Welcome to the April information update and upcoming event guide for the Belvedere College Union.
ADMISSIONS BILL
As most of you will now be aware, the Minister for Education has published the ‘Admission to Schools Bill 2015’ that will include a number of regulations, which may effect us as Past Pupils. We will be reviewing the proposals and look forward to consulting with the Minister and her Government colleagues at the earliest available opportunity.
REUNIONS 2015 AND CONTACTING YOU
As a Union we are endeavoring to keep in touch with you the past, about all things present. Our biggest challenge is that at the moment we have only just over 2,600 email address contacts for our past pupils. We should have closer to 5,000. Would you have any interest in helping us to rebuild our database of class contact details?. If you think you can help us, or have friends that might help us rebuild the contact information for your classmates, please contact Jane at

INTERNSHIPS FOR UNIVERSITY GOING BELVEDERIANS - CAN YOU HELP?
In a continued drive to assist our younger colleagues, The Union would like to assist those who are attending College at this time, who are seeking employment in Ireland or abroad for the Summer months. Based on feedback from the recent past, one of the biggest challenges that they face, is securing employment during holiday periods, or the Summer months whilst they are attending college. For that reason we are seeking the help of past Belvederians who would be willing to offer Summer internship opportunities to our colleagues currently attending University.
If you think that you are in a position to help us, please advise us by contacting
secretary@belvedereunion.com
We would like to thank the organizations that have already offered support to this incentive.
INTERNSHIPS
If you are currently in University and would like the opportunity to interview for an internship in either Eversheds or The Dublin Chamber of Commerce, please email your CV to
secretary@belvedereunion.com with ‘Summer Internship’ in the subject line.
PANDA CUP 2015
On Saturday last, April 11th, this years Panda Cup trophy was lifted by 'The Honey Badgers'. It was a day of excitement and sweat, heat and hail, burritos and wheatgrass, a DJ and not to forget, the raffle tickets. T-shirts decorated the teams to remind us of the importance of the day to the elected charity, Team Jonathan Ranson.
With 22 teams on the day, 300 players, 6 referees and many helpers, the day was a huge success for all involved. So far €2,200 euro has been raised, from t-shirts sales and the raffle alone. The overall figure has yet to be updated, with money yet to be collected for team registration, a donation from catering and also a further raffle of a signed Rugby Jersey by our very own 6 nations champions, Ireland. To buy a ticket or simply to make a donation to the charity please contact us at
belvoju@gmail.com.
A donation is also being made to The Christmas Soup Run, which is a charity run by Conor McHugh of Rhetoric 2010, and Gearóid O' Meara of Rhetoric 2013.
A huge thank you to all that could contribute to the day. Sincere apologies to those who could not make it after the event had to be postponed on 4th April. Those who did not request a refund should do so soon by contacting
info@tagrugby.ie. If you do not request a refund, the money will be contributed to both charities mentioned.

SCT RUGBY
Congratulations to the College SCT Rugby team on reaching the Leinster Schools Cup Final in this year’s Senior Cup campaign. While unfortunate not to win on the day, they did us all proud. Congratulations to Roscrea on their historic victory.
SCT RUGBY PHOTOS
The Union's photographer, Fionan O'Connell has had numerous requests regarding photographs of the Junior & Senior Cup campaigns so in an effort to make things as easy as possible for people, he has created two separate, large galleries where people can view and, if they wish, buy photos - all online.

BELVEDERE CAREER CLINIC
Finally, the inaugural Belvedere Career clinic, took place in the College on March 25th. The event, which was targeted at the boys of Poetry and Rhetoric and our younger Union members, was another great example of the Union and College working together to make something new a great success. I would like to thank the College Careers teacher Roisin O’Donohoe for working closely with the Union on this and our guest speakers on the night, Barry McLoughlin (Communications Clinic), Stephen Maguire (Smart performance) and Ken Harbourne (Wallace Myers Recruitment).
